Leslie Mouronval Q&A
About Leslie
Leslie is a student at Swansea Metropolitain University.
Why did you decide to complete your work placement with Holidaybreak?
Holidaybreak appeared to me as one of the best companies in this part of the industry. I knew that working for Eurocamp would give me the opportunity to get new skills, like management skills, and improve my cultural awareness.
Holidaybreak is a well recognised company and it looks good on a CV.
What was your position with Holidaybreak during your Work placement?
I was a courier for Eurocamp in Italy, Baia Domizia Campsite.
What did this role involve?
I had to take part in Montage in April, cleaning Mobile Homes and tents. Then later on in the month, get onto my own campsite with my manager and my team, I had to welcome customers when they arrived on the campsite and resolved any problems which can occur during their stay.
What did you learn during your work placement?
I learnt a lot about decision making and cultural awareness by working with different cultures and marketing points of view. As a student in International Travel and Tourism Management, I find this world really useful. I was able to apply all of my modules to my job and now, Back to University I can use my new skills to my new modules.
Is there anything you would tell other students considering a placement with Holidaybreak?
I will tell them to go and enjoy it. Although not everybody loves cleaning, this job will make them grow up and get so many new skills. They will go back to University with more self-confidence and ready to go further into the search for a job into the Tourism Industry
As a French student into a Welsh University this placement helped me a lot in English and I even learnt a bit of Italian and some few words in German and Dutch.
I get to know the area as well. I got the chance to go to Rome, Pisa and Naples. And the weather is wonderful most of the time!
