A day in the life of Repair and Maintenance Staff

The day dawns bright and early. We have a list of repair and maintenance jobs to attend to; every day brings something different so we prepare for the unexpected.

Our first call is to a family who are having problems with their boiler. After adjusting the settings and explaining about campsite water pressure we are on our way to the next call.

On route to reception a customer asks us to visit their accommodation as they have a problem with their toilet. An over zealous use of the flush button is the problem which we quickly reconnect and bid them goodbye.

Our first arrival check consists of a complete function and safety check of the accommodation. We check each room and then we check for any repairs needed to the outside decking. We also tend to any missing or broken items that would affect the appearance and workings of the accommodation.

A customer has a problem with their air conditioning, which turns out to be due to them leaving the windows open whilst the unit is running. We explain how to get the best of out the system by leaving the windows closed and we are then on our way.

A call comes through from another site, water is pouring from the shower area of a mobile. We advise the couriers to turn off the main inlet pipe and we head off to attend to the problem.

On the way we call in to a local hardware shop to stock up on some supplies, while there we receive a call from another site regarding a problem with the toilet. Once we have advised on a solution to this problem we head off to attend to the problem shower.

After sorting out the shower we are approached by the courier, she has a customer who said there is a funny smell coming from the boiler. We visit the accommodation and ascertain that they have a “yellow flame incident”. All this needs is a good cleaning and relighting - then it is time for a sandwich and cup of coffee.

We spend the rest of the day fitting parts to empty mobile homes that require them, catching up on any more calls from customers and then heading back to our base for a well-earned evening meal. While we wait for this to cook we fax the warehouse requesting any parts we may need.

Cheers!!!!
